At Talk With Tara, your quality of life is our priority.
We are operated by a highly qualified Social Work clinician, Tara Unadkat who brings over 16 years of expertise supporting, listening and guiding people through difficult life transitions. Tara’s experience ranges from providing counselling and case management to individuals and families in the community public health sector, to facilitating safe discharge plans for patients in hospital mental health wards, emergency departments and general medical units. And she hopes to adapt this vast area of knowledge to help you move from crisis to peace. Her advice will show you how to break down the personal and social barriers that have stopped you from discovering your true potential.
In the peaceful therapeutic space at Talk With Tara you will encounter the most compassionate guidance and dedicated client-centred Social Work and Counselling services. Tara’s main passion is to teach people the knowledge and skills to develop the resilience to overcome adversity.

We are also registered with DVA and Workcover to provide a range of services to eligible clients. And we have an NDIS Worker Clearance to provide services to self-managed participants.

Tara is an accredited perinatal mental health professional with The Centre of Perinatal Excellence (COPE).
She specialises in perinatal counselling and support for mothers and their significant others during pregnancy, delivery and the postpartum period. Tara hopes to give you strategies to deal with the psychological, social and emotional challenges that may arise during this time.

Feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of modern parenting? Have lost yourself in the role?
We offer evidence-based treatments that may help you to overcome the most common parenting problems, from adjustment issues to identity crises.
Tara is also trained as a Bringing Up Great Kids Program Facilitator with the Australian Childhood Foundation. And can teach this program to parents, teachers and managers in schools and other education settings.
Tara is a passionate about helping you understand the trauma and develop life-changing coping strategies. She can utilise a variety of trauma-focused and attachment focussed therapies that consider a gentle and nurturing approach to your journey.
Grief can be difficult to break out of, but with the right support and treatment, moving forward is possible. Tara is a certified grief counsellor and can help you work through the stages in an healthy way and learn to look forward to a fulfilling life, without feeling held back by the loss any longer.
Relationships are an integral part of our lives, but they can also be challenging. Tara can suggest effective ways to improve communication, and strengthen fractured relationships. She can offer intimacy building tools for couples and tailored family therapy modalities to meet the needs of all types of family systems.

Health changes and chronic disease affects an individual’s emotional and physical wellbeing and social function. Social Work can have a significant impact on improving the clinical management of chronic illness via the provision of psychosocial interventions aimed at empowering client self-management and suitable resources. Tara offers home visits or clinic-based services to individuals and their families.
We can also provide specific counseling to support people as they adjust to the illness, diagnosis and associated lifestyle changes.
